How I’m Removing Toxins From My Home

removing toxins from the home

Lately, I’ve really been on this cleaning/organizing band wagon. I don’t want it to be a phase either. I’ve made it a regular part of who I am and I thoroughly enjoy cleaning.

One of the things I’ve discovered while cleaning is I use way too many commercial products with chemicals.  Having a special needs child, I need to be more careful about what I subject him to. Actually, him having special needs really should have less to do with it. There’s the entire household’s health to consider.

So, turning to my trusted resource for learning about all things (YouTube LOL!), I came across several channels that I have gleaned so much knowledge from. They are:

Organized Clutterbug - Spunky and friendly, she shares cool household tips

Clean My Space - the most comprehensive space on the web for cleaning tips I’ve ever come across

DoItOnaDime - a great resource for doing things in your home, inexpensively

What I’m Doing

Cleaning my home can not only be simplified by making my own products, it’s cheaper too! So, I’m going to use my chemical products (I don’t believe in throwing away money!) and I’ll be making the following items:

  • All Purpose Cleaner
  • Glass Cleaner
  • Furniture Polish
  • Floor Cleaner

Stay tuned for some future posts on recipes for these items as I try them out. I started making some of these based on what I watched on the YouTube channels I shared but I need to do some tweaking or my own personal preferences. Stay tuned!

Do you make any of your own cleaning products? Share in the comments below! Please :)

Nice! I’m just starting to think about these things. I’m trying to use up what I have first, but I plan to make my own laundry detergent with Dr.Bronner’s soap, washing soda and baking soda. I’m excited to see how it turns out!

ha! I didn’t use to like to clean but now I actually enjoy it. My husband makes fun of me saying I’m the only one cleaning windows in the winter LOL

I’ve never made my own products, but lately friends on facebook have been making laundry detergent and dishwasher tablets, and I’m intrigued to hear the results after they have used them

I don’t know that I’ll make my own detergent but the house cleaning products is really easy.
