Scripture & Spirit: Keep Calm God Gave You Authority

Most well meaning people with respect for God are used to responding to challenging situations with statements like, “God is in control.”

While it’s true that God is omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent, He’s not controlling what goes on in the earth.

Whaaaaat? Blasphemy you say? Hear me out.

If God is in control in the earth, He doesn’t appear to be doing a good job. There’s wars, murders, rapes, accidents and all sorts of tragic things happening. People even blame God for these things happening. They are wrong.

In Psalm 115:16 God clearly says He gave authority in the earth to man (mankind). “The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD’s: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.”

When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, they gave their God given authority to the devil, God’s enemy. But….

When Jesus died and rose from the dead, He took back that authority and returned it to the children of men. Only, most people don’t know it. They are ignorant to their rights as children of God.

Now, I’m not saying you can walk around doing whatever you want and then command things to go the way you want in the earth. No. You need to have first accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, get to know WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST and THEN use the authority He gave you in this earth.

That means as Christians, we should be taking authority over the works of the devil. The devil can’t do what we don’t allow him to do. We have angels working on our behalf. We have the power and authority given to us by God Almighty to tell the devil, “Stop! no more!” And, we have the Holy Ghost who is our Enforcer.

Only, not many Christians know their rights. It’s time to get in God’s Word and discover what He has to say about our rights as children of God. Here are some scriptures to get started:

  • We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.- 1 John 5:18
  • Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. - 1 John 4:4
  •  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. - Mark 16:17-18

Resting in God means you are able to do things without your own power but depending on Him. This is a great post, loved reading it.
